In short

nextmove doesn’t lend money or give mortgage advice ourselves — we’re an introducer. Our job is to connect you, quickly and for free, with an FCA-regulated mortgage broker from our partner network who advises across the whole market and can search thousands of deals from a wide range of lenders. You tell us what you need, we match you to the right broker, and they take it from there — giving you regulated advice, recommending a deal suited to your circumstances, and managing the application through to completion. Enquiring is free, carries no obligation, and doesn’t affect your credit score (a broker only runs a credit search later, with your permission, once you choose to proceed). That’s the whole model: we open the door to expert help; the broker walks you through it.

The three steps

Step 1 · You tell us what you need

Fill in our short enquiry form — a couple of minutes is all it takes. You’ll share the basics: what you’re looking to do (buy your first home, move, remortgage, invest in buy-to-let, or something more specialist), roughly your situation, and how best to reach you. There’s no lengthy application here and no credit check at this stage — just enough for us to understand what kind of broker will suit you. It’s completely free and you’re under no obligation to go any further.

Step 2 · We match you with the right broker

Based on what you’ve told us, we connect you with an FCA-regulated, whole-of-market mortgage broker from our partner network — chosen to fit your circumstances, whether that’s a straightforward residential purchase or a more specialist case like self-employed income, adverse credit, buy-to-let or later-life lending. Your details are passed securely to that broker so they can get in touch — usually quickly — ready to help. Because they work across the whole market, they’re not tied to any single lender.

Step 3 · Your broker finds your deal

From here you’re in expert hands. Your broker gives you regulated mortgage advice, searches the market for a deal suited to your needs and circumstances, and — once you’re happy to proceed — handles the application, liaises with the lender, and guides you through to completion. They’ll explain your options clearly, answer your questions, and only carry out a credit search when you choose to move forward. Their advice is personal to you; our part was simply making the introduction.

That’s it — three steps to expert help

Start with a free, no-obligation enquiry. We’ll take care of the introduction; your broker takes care of the mortgage.

What nextmove does — and doesn’t do

Being clear about our role matters, so there are no surprises:

nextmove doesnextmove doesn’t
Offer a free introduction serviceLend money or act as a lender
Connect you with FCA-regulated, whole-of-market brokersGive mortgage or financial advice ourselves

In short: we’re the introduction, not the advice. The regulated advice, the recommendation and the application all come from the broker we connect you with — and that’s exactly as it should be, because they’re the qualified, FCA-regulated professional in your corner.

Why use an introducer at all?

A fair question — why not just go straight to a lender or a broker yourself? You can, of course. But there are real advantages to starting here. Choice: going direct to your own bank shows you only their products; our partner brokers search across a wide range of lenders, including specialist ones you can’t easily approach yourself. Fit: mortgages get complicated fast — self-employed or variable income, credit blips, limited company buy-to-let, buying from abroad — and we match you to a broker who actually handles cases like yours, rather than you cold-calling and hoping. Simplicity: one short enquiry, and the right expert comes to you. Free guidance in the meantime: our library of guides helps you understand the ground before you even speak to anyone. We’re not a replacement for expert advice — we’re the shortest route to it.

What it costs — and how we’re paid

Transparency here is important. Using nextmove to get introduced is free to you — there’s no charge for the enquiry or the introduction. Like most introducer services, we may receive a fee or commission from the broker or network when we introduce a customer to them; that arrangement never adds to what you pay. Your broker will explain their own charges to you clearly and upfront before you commit to anything — some brokers charge a fee for their advice, some are paid by the lender via commission, and many are a mix; whichever applies, they’re required to tell you before you proceed, and you can find our own broker-fee explainer in our guide to broker fees. Nothing about our introduction obliges you to accept any deal or pay any broker — you’re free to walk away at any point.

Your details and your privacy

When you enquire, you’re trusting us with your information, and we take that seriously. The details you provide are used to match you with a suitable broker from our partner network and are passed securely to that broker so they can help you. We don’t sell your information indiscriminately, and enquiring with us doesn’t affect your credit score — a broker or lender only carries out a credit search later, with your explicit permission, once you’ve chosen to move forward with an application. For the full detail of how we handle your data and your rights, please see our Privacy Policy. If you ever have a question about your information, you’re welcome to contact us.

Ready when you are

nextmove exists to make the first step easy: a free, no-obligation enquiry, a broker matched to your situation, and expert regulated advice from there. Whether you’re buying your first home, remortgaging, moving or investing, the process is the same three simple steps — and it starts whenever you’re ready.

Take the first step: compare mortgage deals with an FCA-regulated, whole-of-market broker — free, no obligation, no impact on your credit score to enquire.

How it works: FAQs

Is nextmove a mortgage lender or broker?

Neither — nextmove is an introducer. We don’t lend money and we don’t give mortgage advice ourselves. Our role is to connect you, free of charge, with an FCA-regulated, whole-of-market mortgage broker from our partner network who provides the regulated advice, recommends a suitable deal, and handles your application. Think of us as the bridge to expert help rather than the help itself: we make the introduction, and the qualified broker takes care of everything from there.

Does it cost anything to use nextmove?

No — using nextmove to get introduced to a broker is free to you. There’s no charge for the enquiry or the introduction. We may receive a fee or commission from the broker or network when we introduce a customer, but that never adds to what you pay. Separately, your broker will clearly explain their own charges before you commit to anything — some charge a fee, some are paid by the lender through commission, and many are a combination; whichever applies, they must tell you upfront, and you’re never obliged to proceed.

Will enquiring affect my credit score?

No. Filling in our enquiry form and being matched with a broker does not involve a credit check and leaves no mark on your credit file. A credit search only happens later — carried out by a broker or lender, with your explicit permission — once you’ve decided to move forward with an actual mortgage application. So you can enquire, be introduced, and talk to a broker about your options with complete confidence that your credit score is untouched.

Am I obliged to take a mortgage if I enquire?

Not at all. Enquiring with nextmove carries no obligation whatsoever. You’re free to speak with the broker we introduce you to, hear your options, and decide it’s not the right time — with no cost and no pressure. Equally, you’re under no obligation to accept any particular deal your broker finds, or to pay any broker fee, until you actively choose to proceed. The whole point is to give you information and access to expert advice so you can make your own decision.

What happens to my details after I enquire?

Your details are used to match you with a suitable broker from our partner network, and then passed securely to that broker so they can get in touch and help you. We handle your information in line with our Privacy Policy, and we don’t sell it indiscriminately. The broker uses your details to provide advice and, when you choose to proceed, to progress your application. You can read exactly how your data is handled, and your rights around it, in our Privacy Policy, and contact us any time with questions.

What kinds of mortgages can you help with?

The full range. Our partner brokers work across the whole market and cover straightforward cases — first-time buyers, home movers, remortgages — as well as more specialist situations where expert placement really matters: self-employed and variable income, adverse or thin credit, buy-to-let and limited company buy-to-let, later-life and retirement lending, expat and specialist property. When you enquire, we use what you tell us to match you with a broker suited to your particular circumstances, so you’re speaking to someone who genuinely handles cases like yours.

Important information

nextmove is an introducer, not a lender or adviser. We do not provide mortgage or financial advice; we introduce you to FCA-regulated, whole-of-market mortgage brokers who can advise on your individual circumstances, and we may receive a fee or commission for doing so. This never adds to the cost you pay. Any broker we introduce you to will explain their own fees and services before you proceed. Enquiring with nextmove is free, carries no obligation, and does not affect your credit score. Note that some forms of lending, such as most buy-to-let, are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
